Meet Lucio AKA Lurch, he is a linebred son of Fruit D'Amour Fortunato (grandfather to grand daughter breeding).
Lucio will never be confused as anything other then a Neapolitan Mastiff.
He is a very massive dog. At a correct weight he is 170 to 180 pounds.
Combined with his huge head, copious wrinkled and massive bone, he is a intimadating site to behold.
Lurch temperament is also very typical of the Mastino.
He is loyal and faithful with his family members, while still maintaining the guardian instincts of the past.
A very young Lurch.
Contrary to how is perceived Lucio can move well, he is not a fancy mover,
but you would be hard pressed to try and outrun him in short burst's.
The breed has never been long distance runners, their job in history has been the
guardian of the home, which they achieve through their intimidating looks,
and when called for speed and dexterity, this surprises many who think the neo cannot move well.
Lucio is very selectively used in our breeding programs.
He is a essenctial part of maintaining the correct structure of the breed.
While not everyone agrees with the usefulness of Lucio, many will admit the need
for him and others like him to continue to contribute to the Neapolitan Mastiff of the future.
Do YOU want to nominate a Molosser for Molosser of the Month? It
does not have to be a dog who have achieved alot at shows, other reasons count as much to be Molosser
of the Month at Molosserworld.
