The Alabai Cozemo

Cozemo Legend of the Falls
Breeder: R. Goldenschuh
Strong Alabai Type,
Hips/Elbows – GDC UKC – DNA-P,
Cozemo has the classic original Bite for the Nomads dog (scissors),
30 inches tall 135lbs at 2 Years of Age.
Owned by: Jeannine DePalma.

Cozemo was imported from France thanks to Central Asian expert Rasaq Qadirie.
We searched threw out the World for this special pup, until we found what we were looking for.
Coz pedigree has Mountain type, Old Aboriginal lines that are hard to find. Which has not been affected with inbreeding & show dogs. His Sire & dam are working dogs, with bloods from Sage Koochee’s on his Mom side & the Famous Afi Abdula on his Sire side. A Wonderful combination as anyone can see. Instead of having what everyone else has, a pup sired by a popular Show Champion.
We went for the Non Show dogs with unrelated pedigrees. So we took a gamble & won in more ways then one. We knew we got something special & unique when Coz arrived. He walked out of his crate after a 15-hour flight kissed me & said, “Yo Im here lets get Busy”! I knew then we struck gold.

History: for the breed: An All rounder dog -Work-Show-Farm-Love.
1st CGC of the Breed ~1st TDI of the Breed ~1st Import Pass ATTS.
Titles: Coz attends a couple of shows a year under FCI judges.
In the process he achieved the following titles awarded by, Top FCI-RKF Judges:
Grand – International – Canadian Champion – Top Ten 00 - 3 X BIS Puppy 2 X RBIS Adult.
Winner RKF Russian show 12/00 3 X Excellent, RKF Pres. Revaz Homosuridze.
Winner CAO specialty RKF Galina Kirkitskaya- Placed Group 3-4.
Winner RBIS Molosser Stock 01 BIS FCI Judge Pasquale Asensi.

I have to admit watching kids come up to us at exhibitions centers, asking if Cozemo was here today?, was a bigger thrill then winning Best in Show. We have educated the public with each appearance on the correct temperament of a working dog of this breed should be. In the process providing our dogs with massive socialization.
Coz has been nicknamed by his young admirers as “The Smooch Monster” & “Kissy Face”.
So Coz showed his stuff on our farm, shows, & with kids. It was time to test his “Protection Skills”. Our results were “Excellent” FCI TT Score 4.3 ~ ATTS ~ Protection TT (SCB).

Unlike most of the dogs Classified as Livestock guardians, this type of Central Asian was & is the chosen guardians of the Nomads for over 5,000 years. Unlike the other more common, stationary LGD’S.
This type of Central Asian dog of the Nomads is the walking protector of the tribes of Central Asia. They protect from within the moving caravans. This is the type we chose to specialize in, Strong Old World types.
In addition to Coz, we have imported dogs “Strait” from Uzbekistan – Real Aboriginal lines of Central Asia. No titles, just ratings & working titles which has helped to vitually eliminate the large (100lb) Coyote problem we had on our 50 acre Horse farm.
Check out Dog of the Month for May 2000 & see how our dogs handle these predators.

Coz has recently passed on his genes in the form of 2 great litters. Throwing his classic head, type & temperament. He has daughters working on ranches in CA due to a Bear & Cougar presence, Working Therapy dogs in training, a young male is in training for Mondio ring.
But most important, all of his pups are protecting families from within, as they have for centuries. They are not the typical aloof livestock guardians. They Bond to humans & Protect all that you own. Be it land-stock-kids-cars-horses anything perceived in their territory.
Which is why I chose this breed. I want to ride my horse all-day Coz is there to guard me. If I want to stay in bed & munch out he is never far from my sight. He is a true low keyed, calm strong fearless dog of Central Asia.

Brag: FoxFire New York Courage under Fire Win BIS Puppy. And on his first days of Therapy work, he moved an Altzheimers patent to speak. Something he had not done in a very long time. He said “ Heh thats a doggie” as Sharkey licked his hand. The patient’s daughter was moved to tears of joy, as were we. Not bad for a 6 month, 100lb Puppy. Owner V. Evans.

What’s in a name?
Please note in this country the USA Club Central Asian Shepherd Society of America, UKC & AKC use the name “Central Asian Shepherd dog”. The Name “Ovcharka-is not a Native name for this breed. It is NEVER used in Central Asia. During the retreat of the Soviets out of Central Asia, they left behind some German Shepherd patrol dogs. These GSD’S mixed with some local Central Asian’s Creating a “Ovcharka” = Mongrel.
Recovery centers were set up, to recover pure Central Asian’s from tribes & remote places not influenced by modern man & modern breeds. You will find with each area there is a different name for each different type of Central Asian dog.
NOTE: We do NOT have or breed the NEW type of CAO in the NEW Russian standard, which calls for an undershot bite. Our lines & dogs fit the (current) FCI, UKC, & CASSA standard. As they have for thousands of years.
We breed for a working dog, for families & farms. Who need protection from predators be it 2 legged or 4. Our dogs seek human family oriented. We do not have the type of Central Asians or other LGD’s that wish to stay solely with livestock. So if you need a 24-7 LGD, may I suggest obtaining a Trained Working Livestock guardian. A proven working dog, that needs a job.
Fact is, puppies do not come out trained to work with sheep regardless of breed. Only true experts that breed sheep, rescue & or breed working dogs can properly suit you with a livestock guardian dog.
Unless you have extensive experience with this breed. We suggest you start with breeds easier & better suited for this US Role of a livestock guardian dog. Please visit http://www.c-c-farms.com

In the last 6 years of studying this breed, I have had the chance to meet some of the most fascinating people in the world. Such as Kaare, Rasaq, Turkmen & many more. You see, researching the Central Asian is one in the same as researching human history, its wars, sorrows, wonders, & accomplishments. Without a doubt the Central Asian dogs are by far one of the Oldest known breeds. Created only by the harshest natural selection that the wilds of Central Asia have to this day. Thus being owned by one is owning a piece of raw untamed history.

Thanks Kaare for this DOM, & we hope you enjoyed visiting with us, & please check our WebPages for our newest additions coming summer 2002.
