Present situation: FCI recognized and well distributed.

Additional info: The standard was drawn up already in 1922, in South Africa. This breed was made by crossing the native ridgeback dog of the Hottentot's and the dogs the settlers did bring, mainly Molosser and Molosser derivatived dogs.
