Height: Males: 72-80 cm. (28,2-31,4 in), preferred 76 cm. (29,8 in), females: 65-75 cm. (25,5-29,4 in), preferred 70 cm. (27,5 in).

Weight: Males: about 55 kg. (120 lbs), up to 68 kg. (150 lbs), females: about 45 kg. (100 lbs).

Colour: Lion-colored; yellow, red, reddish brown, sandy, often with black tips on the coat. Always a black mask.

Present situation: Most common in Scandinavia, France and Germany.

Additional info: Made in the 1830-40's by Heinrich Essig (1808-1889), crossing Landseer Newfoundland, Saint Bernard & Pyrenean Mountain Dog. The Leonberger was created to resemble the lion in the coat of arms of the town Leonberg in Germany.
