Country/region of origin: Terceira Island, Azores - Portugal.

Date of origin: Unknown, problary in the 15-1600's.

Height: About 55 cm. (21,6 in).

Weight: No info available.

Colour: Fawn, yellow, with pale mask.

Present situation: Critical. Only a few dogs still exists.

Additional info: The breed is believed to have been created by Bulldogs, Mastiffs, Dogue de Bordeaux and Perro de Presa Español that the settlers on the island did bring with them to protection against the pirates. The breed is known for its twisted tail, the Rabo Torto, which also have been used as an alternative name for the breed.
