The Pyrenean mastiff is a self reliant, calm dog who seldom barks. He is silent, friendly and intelligent,
and as most Molossers he gets very well along with children.
The body of the Mastín is big and long with a wide chest. The head should be massive and broad, but never as broad as the
Spanish Mastiff.
The muzzle is wide and long, but never snipey. The neck is powerful with loose skin and hanging dewlaps, but again, not
as much as the Spanish Mastiff. The bone shall always be big and strong.
This elegant and powerful breed has a minimum height for males at 77 cm. (30,2 in) at the withers, but the ideal dog is
above 81 cm. (31,8 in). The females has a minimum of 72 cm. (28,2 in) but is preferred above 75 cm. (29,4 in). The bigger
and heavier dog is preferred.
The weight is normally about 70-80 kg. (154-176 lbs). There are however speciments that is more than 90 kg. (198 lbs)
without being fat at all.
The Pyrenean Mastiff has a coat with the ideal lenght between 6 and 9 cm. (2,3-3,5 in) but it is always longest at
the shoulders, neck, stomack, behind hind and forelegs and in the tail panache, but the coat shall never be wooly.
The colour is always bacically white, with a well defined mask who is of the same colour as the mask spread over the body,
in well defined shapes. Not preferred colour is totally white and tricolor.
