The Cane di Mannera, also called Pastore Siciliano, comes from Sicily, especially in
the provinces of Messina towards the Nebrodi mountains, Catania towards the Etna
and Palermo towards the Madonie.
Its primary work have been as a guardian dog of livestock and plantations.
The exact origin of the Cane di Mannera is uknown. We can find evidence of the breed in the popular historical book
"I Beati Paoli" by Luigi Natoli, and in the book "La vecchia dell/Aceto" by the same author.
